Procrastination is the mother of all repression ... or something like that.
Three shoots in 2 days ... and more on the way. I have had a busy weekend and I will be continuing this trend for the next couple of weekends throughout the summer.
With my 'day job' moving to a 4 day work week, I now have Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays that I can do other things without the overlap. Most days however, I have been in the yard or in the house getting things 'just so', since I can be so OCD it is amazing that my wonderful and beautiful girlfriend has not poisoned my lemonade yet.
but I digress ...
The Taboo Girls geared up for two sets of photos for their upcoming and much anticipated (...you perverts) 2010 Calendar. We shot a little card game ... and a soapy carwash ... and I sweat my ass off in the heat, but what else is new?
I also shot promo and possible album shots for the music group Ellis Uniques. You might remember the previous shoot I did for them with the floor of compact discs and the dreadlocked hair. We also had a set with them singing in the middle of Richmond City traffic. Well now they have streamlined their sound, streamlined their look, and are coming out with a new album in the very near future. Check them out in my friends list. (There are also rumors of a music video in their future for the single 'Really Really')
As June winds down (and so do I most evenings) I am starting to ramp up with more of the creative shoots for July. I am limiting my TFCD shoots and such, to focus on paid gigs, or shoots that I want to do for my (hopefully sooner than later) upcoming book. 'The Digital Art and Photography of Carlton K' will be available in both physical and digital versions ... I just need to get on the stick and make these shoots happen. As is the issue for most people now-a-days, putting the cash into the sets and the look is what slows me down, but I am scrapping those pennies together and trying to make it work.
On a sadder note ... I will not be entering the 48 Hour Film Project this year. It really isn't that I can't swing the cost of it, or that I can't donate my time to it ... it is really just that I don't like what it is turning into. So many 'pro' and 'semi-pro' teams are getting together to make the films in 48 hours. When we were standing up in front everyone at the Byrd Theatre last year for the Q&A and they had us say who we were, and how many people we had work on our film, my answer was 4. This was including the principal actors. Many of the other 'almost-but-not-quite-corporate-sponsored' teams had 20, 30 and even more people working on their film. To me that just took the fun out of it. Yeah you are competing to make the best film, and the prizes are cool, but when the people that you are competing against can go out and just buy that equipment on a whim, or have it already, it is time to move on ... so I am. (I might help out with one of the other teams this year as promised, but I don't want to put my money into the machine that it has become. But my time might just be ok.)
More blogs will be happening more often. Sorry about the long delays in between (I know SOOO many of you just HAVE to know what is going on with me. Hehehe) but I suppose as I get older and find more and more silver hairs (yes, it just jumped strait over gray) I am slowing down a bit … but you are only as young as you feel … and damn it, I am going to bust my ass like a 20 year old again!

getting ready to start burning the candle at both ends ... it has been a while ... it will be nice.
in between shoots, I will be traveling all over the place, then I start full force on my concept shoots for the book. I WILL get this thing rolling and not stop until my trigger finger breaks ... damnit! so yeah, watch out for that.
I have a private client shoot here and there, some music video stuff that is in the works, some seriously fun, high end, bizzare and exciting shoots in my head for the book ... so now it's just a matter of getting the sets together and the makeup and outfits ready ... some of them of course will be on location, but I am hoping to do some creative shit in the studio too ...
if you are interested in being a part of some of these strange dream sequences that I plan to commit to the book, let me know, I may need people I didnt think I knew I needed ... (did that make sense?) between my already established ideas and the two awesome makeup artists that I work with ... something is bound to blow your mind.
... other than that, just meeting with clients, planing for wedding shoots (yes I said wedding shoots), working convention gigs, and working the 9to5 ...
send me a comment or a message ... I like to keep in touch with everyone ... but this whole email / internet / IM / chat thing works both ways ... ya know?

some news from the Spiderbite Studios Empire ...
slowly coming out of hibernation as we creep through 2009 ... and here are some of the current and upcoming projects you can expect ...
creating advertising for Lunar Melee Pictures full length gothik sci-fi terror film 'Pantheon Black'. we have already completed preliminary posters for the film and will be working closely with writer/director Fabian Rush to get more promotional material ready for mass consumption.
working with Vamps and Vixens soon on the start up advertising campaign for Independantly U T-Shirts ... a Richmond based company that has us shooting the begining of their online cataloge for their products.
a music video is in pre-production for the cyber-industrial tag team Brainclaw. we will be filming much of the video here in Richmond with footage provided by the Metropolis recording artists as the release of their new album 'Deceptor' draws closer.
still plan on working on the new book that will combine some of the twisted ideas that we have been building over the hibernation months. much of the book 'The Digital Art And Photography Of Carlton K' will contain model shoots mixed with the twisted digital manipulations that so many were drawn to at events like 'Spiral' and other art shows that we have been a part of. we are getting back to our roots in that aspect and having fun with the manipulations. they will not be for the faint of heart in most instances though.
no travel plans as of yet to do any shoots out of state for right now. however, I have been contacted by a few models that are planning on being in the area that would like to setup shoots while they are in town. I will be doing my damndest to accomodate these shoots to add to my portfolio and theirs.
I will also be revamping the home studio quite a bit in the very near future. hardwood floors, new lights, backdrops and props will help bring the studio up to the next level. keep an eye out for that too.
on a personal note : I am happy as hell ... I am in love ... and it is wonderful.
more to come

Devils Night
Not much to say right now. Getting back into the swing of things after returning from Hollywood.
New projects on the horizon, including a short film, the soundtrack and audio for 'Pantheon Black', photoshoots with 'Vamps and Vixens' and local models, and a few more things. I will be updating much more in the near future, so keep your eyes open.
10.04.06
This month has already started off right. It actually started a day early in Baltimore at the "Eyes Wide Open Party" with Dayna from Vamps and Vixens Makeup Studio. Our afterparty moved to the Hustler Club a little farther into the city. A wonderful time was had.
October itself will be busy, busy, busy. We had the 'Boys Night Out' shoot which went very well. Some fun stuff going on this weekend. For my anniversary is coming up and the wife and I will be treated like VIPs in Hollywood CA (at much cost to us of course), and we will be returning right before my birthday (gifts and money welcomed). Lots of meetings, lots of projects, and a new movie project that will be friggin hilarious.
Keep your eyes open for all of the new stuff to come.
Just don't expect too many updates while I live like a king. =o)
09.04.06
Ugh.
The 9 to 5 job is going to wear me out for the next couple of weeks. And the only thing I will have to take my mind off of it other than working out again, is going to be the photoshoots that I have coming up. That and the possible music video for a local well known punk band.
I had a shoot with the lovely Alicia yesterday, that turned into a 2-for-1 shoot by changing outfits and making the trip to another location. We didn't get to shoot the 'space girl' thing that we had planned on ... but that's ok ... I think we came up with something great without having to sacrifice an idea. Dayna from Vamps and Vixens Makeup Studio did a wonderful job on the makeup ... and Alicia came up with a few twisted little ideas while we shot that turned into photo-gold. =o)
Keep your eyes open for more stuff to come. One of which will be crazy with all of the colors and manipulation that it will include. I am excited to shoot it ... I just hope I am not too worn out from all of the other crap that I have going on.
08.27.06
Well ... Fabian and I went to Project Resolution tonight to debut the video for 'The Reckoning' that we did for Skinflick. It seemed to go over very well, very well indeed. I can't wait to show some more stuff there next time I have something completed.
September is going to be busy busy busy. I have a photoshoot almost every weekend for this month, and a few in the middle of the week. All of them will be big, and all of them will be with beautiful women (well ... and one really colorful man). Shoots for GG/SG and for artists, models and MUAs ... and many other people. I am going to have lots to do and lots to display. So keep your eyes open.
More music videos will be on deck soon, so if you are looking to have one done soon, hurry up and get the info to me and we can work something out before all hell breaks loose.
08.19.06
Another couple of weeks, another list of things completed and started.
08.04.06
I have many projects planned, but few happening right now ... mostly because it is so damn hot outside.
I am working toward a new goal with the photography and the digital manipulations that I have been doing for the past few years. I will now be starting from scratch to create: Spiderbite Studios Presents : The Digital Art and Photography of Carlton K. I hope to bring the twisted little ideas to life that I have been bouncing around inside my head for many years, and bring a few new ideas and shoots to some of the stuff that I shoot just for the hell of it sometimes. Much of the work will be previewed before the book is finished, and I hope to have it ready for the end of the year or beginning of next. It will take that long because it will be a BIG undertaking, and I don't want to 'half-ass' it at all.
As of right now, some planned chapters of the book include:
07.23.06
Since the release of the music video for Skinflick, a lot has been going on getting prepared for the next set of projects that I have coming up.
07.04.06
Last week, Fabian of Lunar Melee Pictures and I finished the music video for Skinflicks 'The Reckoning'.
I have posted it here and on the mySpace page for all to enjoy.
Skinflick has posted it on his mySpace page also ... and he seemed to be very excited about it too.
A lot of hard work went into this music video, and I would personally like to thank Fabian, Deanna, Milena and Skinflick for making it all happen. Click below to watch

Day Before the Beast
The owner of Vamps and Vixens throws a pretty hardcore shindig. The "Pirate Luau" was great fun, and a nice way to relax a bit before the whole 'getting back to work and bustin' my hump' kinda thing takes place this week.
05.24.06
I seem to be updating more frequently don't I? well that is because there seems to be a little more time in between the projects to breathe and think. so here goes for this week:
05.16.06
"The Ideas are coming! The Ideas are coming!"
I have lots going on with finishing up some websites and various other digital design projects, but I am also itching to start filming some of the music videos that I have been waiting for warmer weather to do. Well now that the weather is nice and average (and before it gets unbelieveably hot) I am going to start on at least the video for Skinflicks 'The Reckoning'. If you have not heard the track yet ... go get the album and give it a listen.
I will begin by searching for the main female actress in the video, and seeing who I can find that fits the bill. I need someone that can look terrified and doesnt mind getting dirty and wearing torn up clothes out in the woods. That is all I am saying about the music video for right now ... because I want some of it to be a big surprise ... even to Skinflick.
Once the video is completed and approved by them, it should be appearing on their 'Greatest Slits' CD+DVD release that is coming out soon. This is yet another reason that I want to start filming it as soon as I can. So if you live in the Richmond area and you are interested ... let me know ... because I have a few girls in mind already ... but I am always open to new talent.
After these projects and the video are completed I will have lots going on with the 'Pantheon Black' audio and soundtrack, not to mention the possibility of another soundtrack shortly after that. I am even possibly getting a really well known electronic/industrial band involved in the 'Pantheon' soundtrack ... only I don't want to say who in case it falls through. =o)
more on the way ... stay tuned.
05.08.06
Another couple weeks go by and a few more things completed on my ever growing list of "shit to get done". So far I have completed or started a handful of flash based websites, filmed some more footage for Lunar Melees : Pantheon Black, designed some business cards for Lionlike LLC, and even got in a photoshoot with the beautiful Angela last sunday.
Still ... more things added to the list ... but catching up on a lot of it is nice. I will be taking some time off from the world of digital design pretty soon, so that I can get a few things done around my house ... I try to have a life outside of my 9 to 5 and what I do at SbS ... but sometimes I just don't know when to quit. Once some of these major SbS projects are finished I will get some non-technical work done.
I don't think that it will happen all that soon mind you ... because this list is still pretty long.
=o)
04.28.06
Well ... it finally happened.
I created a damn mySpace account for SbS (and myself). I said for the longest time that I wouldn't ... but it seems that so many of you people just HAD to get on it ... that the only way I could keep up with everyone was to do it too. so here we are: go visit Spiderbite Studios on mySpace. if you are an artist, actor, or in someway affiliated with SbS ... hit me up with a freind request so that I can send everyone information faster ... and we can continue to network.
So what's going on right now you ask?
I am getting ready to setup a massive amount of photoshoots with people like:
Angela,
SunKarma,
Jillian,
Del Travar, and a few others.
I will also be shooting some more film with Fabian for Pantheon Black this sunday.
I have been adding content and finishing up Del Travars website. Working on some promotional stuff and signs for Vamps and Vixens. And I have been coming up with more ideas for videos for some of the bands that I have been working with. Not to mention trying to gather tracks to include in 'Pantheon' and for another one titled 'Blood Ties' that I may be a part of in the future too.
So much to do ...
So little time in the day to get it all done ...
Just keep the eyes open ... it is all nearly upon us.
03.13.06
The weather is heating up and so are the plans for SbS. We have some photoshoots lined up for Del Travar, Sun Karma and a number of others in the very near future.
The website is going to get some upgrades in flash pretty soon too.
More to come.
02.15.06
There is not too much going on right now in the SbS camp. The weather has been pretty cold so photo shoots have been pushed back and put on hold.
I will be working on a music video for the UK band Skinflick pretty soon. It should be pretty twisted if we do it right ... but once I have it all set to go ... I will try to post a low-fi version of it ... since it may be featured on his upcoming "Greatest Slits" CD/DVD release that is slated for release this year.
Filming continues on the movie "Pantheon Black" and we now have Skinflick and Angels in Bondage on board supplying some killer music. More will be added about the actors and actresses that will be in the movie ... and we might even have a new trailer on the website very soon.
01.16.06
Another few weeks and another list of things to do ... it seems that nothing gets done as fast as I can put it on the list. Fabain has been working hard on shooting for the full length movie "Pantheon Black" while I have been doing a lot of design work for websites and coming up with more ideas. I am also in a Flash Web Design class for this semester, so that I can offer even more services to SbS clients. I have always dabbled in Flash here and there ... but now I hope to be able to build full sites for clients. I have also been working with Lion Like LLC on websites and some side work to keep paying the bills, more info on those projects in the near future.
More information to come soon.
01.01.06
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The new year is upon us ... and so is the new site layout. I have been neglecting the site for far too long, and with all of the changes coming for SbS and the projects that we are associated with, this overhaul was way overdue.
Here is what we have been up to:
05.05.05
We are rebuilding the website (yet again) in order to make it easier on the eyes and the brain. We never fully worked all of
the bugs out of the previous version, and it we becoming to complicated to update the masses on the goings on at SbS. Stay
tuned for the newest release of the website and the newest endevours by our crew.
(Mostly just me)
